History
The Monaro was delivered Mar 1969 by Preston Motors, North Essendon, Victoria.
I'm the 3rd owner and purchased it after searching for an original HK GTS. The 2nd owner, an enthusiast of another marque, stored the car for close to two decades adding only 1,500miles in that period. The original owner used it as daily and serviced it regularly. It carries a genuine 99K miles, and wears it original # plates. It’s condition, and patina, speak of a used well loved Monaro.
In 1969 Holden offered two new colors of Ermine White and Inca Gold to its HK Monaro GTS lineup. Also in '69 all GTS V8 model Monaro's were shod in the 6” Firestone Rally wheels that only the 327's wore prior.
The car is credentialed with:
2022 Celebrating Holden in Fishermans Bend, Best Car 1948-1982
2018 Monaro Nationals, 2nd Place Survivor (HK through to HG, and the highest placed HK)
2017 Monaro Victorian State Titles, 1st Place Survivor (HK through to HZ)
Modifications
It has delete stripe option(DX3). The unusual white on white colour combination is believed to be one of six produced by GMH.
It is one of the truest examples that remain of the Australian designed Monaro that wowed the public stamping its legend status with victory at the 1968 and 1969 Bathurst Mount Panorama endurance races. General Motors-Holden, with Monaro, kicked off the Aussie muscle car era that is now considered the golden period of Australia’s bygone automotive industry.
