History
The car was delivered by Preston Motors, Melbourne on the 16/09/1968. The first owner, Mr F Isaacs, from his home in Windsor, did several thousand miles in the few years he owned before passing away around the early 1970s. The car remained in storage until his estate was sorted. The 2nd owner, Mr L Hope, purchased it from a deceased estate auction around 1973. It was his weekend driver from his home in Tullamarine for the next 20 year or so years. In 1992 Les was faced with the dilemma; “It’s either sell and go with the wife to Queensland, or stay!”. It carries its original Victorian black and white plates. I was the 3rd owner, and purchased it in 1992 as I love the first Monaro shape. I upgraded to a 1969 Monaro GTS 307 in 2015 and sold this car at Lloyds auction a year or so later.
There was approximately 15,500 HK Monaros produced in 1968-69.
Approx 5,400 were Monaro Coupe Standard, or base model, shipped with either 186ci motor(approx 4000 cars) or the 161ci motor(approx 1400). How many are left, not many.
