History
This was my farm truck and was pretty rough, it had a Holden 202 in it when i first bought it.
I used to carry firewood around my property with it for about 7 years before i stripped it down.
I set about restoring it but thought that i wanted it to be much more comfortable to drive. So i selected parts over a few years from various vehicles and made it as it is now. It looks pretty stock but it is far from it, and this is how i wanted it to be.
Modifications
The truck now has power steering, 4 wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, cruise control, 4 speed auto with locking torque convertor, DVD player, reversing camera, heater- the list goes on.
I wanted the truck to be close to driving a more modern vehicle as this is now my daily drive. The truck is now 4X4 with the addition of a GQ Patrol transfer case. ( i took it away with some friends and their Nissan Patrols etc, I can say that i managed the rougher sections with greater ease than they did - i do have good ground clearance though).
Coupled with the Turbo700 transmission it cruises along the freeway at low rpm and is smooth as silk.
I get lots of comments from people, mostly older blokes that say that they remember learning to drive in one the same, often they state that they are pretty tough to drive though - hard to steer and hard to stop. That makes me feel pretty good because i know that they have not noticed any mods to the truck and my mods have made this a breeze to drive.
