History
This is the actual bike my father rode in the Isle Of Man in 1956, then took to Europe and competed with top 10 finishes in the Dutch, Belgian and German Grand Prix. Belgian was his best result, finishing 7th behind the then World Champion John Surtees who won the race.
Modifications
Restored to factory condition by Steve Ledsham (JAL Restorations) in England. Original bike frame number is the 500cc of a pair (Norton made 350cc and 500cc engines that both fitted the featherbed frame). However the 500cc engine was destroyed in the 1960, replaced by a BSA GoldStar 500cc engine and ridden road registered in the UK for 30 years, before being a "barn project" that was found in an estate auction (never happened, see picture above) and then fully restored to immaculate condition by Steve Ledsham. I found it after a ride in 2023 with friends and brought it from then owner (Chris Broad) back to Australia and have placed it on loan to the Mt Panoram Historic Racing Museum at Bathurst.
