History
Not a lot of history known. Purchased February 2016 from Yamba, Northern NSW.
This car is one of just 9,000 built by Austin in RHD for the UK, SA and NZ market in 1956. Austin built another 95,000 in LHD for Nash for the American market - designed by Nash as America's first compact car (as a 2nd family car) but built by Austin in the Uk at Nash's request since Austin was able to tool-up for a fraction of the cost.
Suspension and running gear believed to be Austin Healey Sprite.
Cruises effortlessly at 90km/h and is also comfortable sitting on the open road speed limit of 100km/h.
Designed for configuration as either a coupe or convertible.
Huge collector interest in the USA - any or all parts able to be purchased. But I understand that my car is one of only 12 in Australia!
Modifications
Largely unmodified. Still has original built-in valve radio (that still works) and its standard heater.
This is the Mark II version and the lower body colour was always white as it left the factory. I had it resprayed silver when the white paint started peeling off!
