History
1985 RUF CR32 Chassis #12 North American Test Vehicle. I found this incredible museum on four wheels in a barn in British Columbia, Canada during 2012. This has been verified to be the original and only test vehicle for the RUF naturally aspirated project to fill the market segment for the Porsche 930 Turbo that had been discontinued in North America between 1979 and 1986. The project was abandoned in June 1986. She has her full history from pre-order.
This RUF is Chassis #12 with a W09 Chassis Number and boasts a hand-built 3.2 litre naturally aspirated engine mated to RUF's original coachwork featuring the prototype BTR flares (a pre-cursor to the Yellowbird), prototype Bilstein Sports Suspension, prototype short shifter, chassis mounted sway bars and original Canadian Black Angus Recaro Interior. The first registration was to the owner in Calgary who signed up to the winter testing programme with Alois Ruf in exchange for a substantial discount off the ticketed price. The two-winter testing programme was conducted in the Canadian Rockies between Banff and Jasper along the Jasper Ice-way. She enjoyed careful ownership through 4 owners in Canada till 2012 when I managed to acquire her and marry her original provenance with her. She remains the most incredible barn-find of my collecting life and unlikely to be improved upon. She is now on display in the Motor Museum of Western Australia and comes out for periodic outings and spirited runs. She presents in original condition and unrestored. All original parts that have been updated have been kept to preserve original provenance.
