My First Car
My first car was a new 1969 Honda Scamp N360 Deluxe, an upmarket model that had a vinyl roof and ONE driving light. It had tiny 360 cc engine and was flat out at 75 mph.
One situation to mind is as an apprentice chef in Canberra I took 3 mates up Black Mountain for a BBQ. The road was steep, narrow and very winding up to the top. The little Scamp got half way up & didn't have the power to continue, so my mates got out and walked up whilst I drove past them and met them at the summit for lunch.
The second funny occurance was with a few friends we took the Scamp to Mount Stromlo forest near Canberra and drove trough the fire trails, which were dirt roads with steep hills. The Scamp could't climb the hills as it was front wheel drive and the wheels kept spinning in the gravel. Not to be outdone I turned the car around and reversed up the hill and upon reaching the top turned around and drove down the hill. Mission complete.
We had some great adventures in the little Scamp.
