History
In 1964 Wheels Magazine decided to introduce the Car of the Year competition. The Renault R8 was the inaugural winner, Australia’s very first Wheels Car of the Year. It had a new modern look and great technology for that time, like all wheels disc brakes .
I believe the car found me last year, through a set of chance circumstances I purchased it from Adelaide. The previous owner kept it in immaculate condition, he passed away unfortunately and I trust he would be happy to know it came to a loving home. I always wanted to own one, as it was my childhood car in the 70s in Europe . My grandfather owned one after he upgraded from a Renault Dauphine, my father had two, the Romanian version Dacia 1100, now I am the custodian of “Theodore” ( named in the memory of my father), and in a few years my son will be the fourth generation driving this great Renault.
