History
I bought this car in November 1999. it had been restored by a previous owner and was a really neat road car. I had the engine modified by my favourite workshop soon after and started using the car for club mortorsport (replacing my 1968 Cooper S) at venues including Winton, Calder, Sandown and Phillip Island. The Mini and I have had some success together,
2nd place in its class in the 2002 club championship,
2nd place in the 2005 club championship, and
2nd place again in the 2006 club championship.
Together with three other team mates, the car has competed in every one of the Victorian 6-Hour Relay events at Phillip Island. We achieved,
3rd place in the 2010 event and
1st place in 2011. To cap off a very good year, the Min and I finished in
1st place in the 2011 club sprint championship.
Modifications
The Mini Clubman GT has a mild camshaft, a Weber carburettor, high compression pistons, lightened flywheel, 13" wheels and an adjustable front end. Everything else in the car is standard except for a half roll cage, race seat and harness.
