History
Owned it for 35years. Just restored for 2019, what a wonderful experience. I am the 3rd owner Previous owner a concert violinist imported from UK in late 70s to Perth, then moved to Sydney.
Only 96800miles still and kept to original spec.. this was my 3rd and favorite Jaguar ever built, so just had to keep it for ever. driven weekly. It is a pleasure every time I drive it.
Very rare color Turquoise, not seen with black leather in Jaguar notes.
Was $15000 new near double the price of the series 1 XJ6. 2.8 so never a cheap car, does 10mpg on Premium ULP
Only about 750 SWB RH drives made. Wheels tested at 152mph at 6700rpm in June 1973, just a bit faster than my XYGT it replaced, The suspension is far to soft for these speeds by todays expectations.
Gearbox with lock in lock out gears, so can be driven as a manual 3 spd., great for 1973. This was so you can take of in 2nd with no wheel spin, an early idea for traction control.
But slow when left to change itself from the Borg Warner model 12 3speed auto.
So 0-160km took just over 20 seconds. this does not represent the 3000-6000rpm performance which matches the Falcon GTs
First photo is the day I brought it home 30 years ago. current spec is club rego, with Wire wheels, Trim is still perfect and original factory leather. Dash is not cracked, woodwork is original , with only small crazing. I did need to replace the roof lining. and did fit a new black vinyl roof just after purchase.
V12 starts every time, piston compression recently check to be good. No plan or need to refurbish the engine. It is important to replace all engine hoses every 5 years. , as the fuel lines are close to the exhaust.
Modifications
Lowered slightly at the front, Koni shocks, momo timber steering wheel and wire wheels.
Stainless exhaust fitted over 20years ago. got my moneys worth there.
mostly un-restored but resprayed now, interior still original and perfect. just a bit of a fresh up hear and there as it needs it.
on its 3rd gearbox just rebuilt. White walls look unreal, and are 215. 70. 15 so it sits and rides as it was new.
.
The 326CI , V12 feels just like a V8 , like a sweet XTGT 302V8 with cams. Love my old Jaguar, plan to die with her
