History
I purchased my Bug in 1999 and set about creating something a bit different, I transformed it into the “billet look”. All billet work is machined by me on manual mills and lathes with no CNC input. All parts are my own design with many part being remade as I developed the Beetle over more than 20 years. I drive the Bug regularly it is very much a road and show car.
Modifications
Engine bay has extensive billet work with a duel Weber carburettor set up, performance distributor and upgraded 1600 pistons and barrels with unleaded heads.
The undercarriage is billet detailed with rear disc brakes, sway bars, gas shocks all round, the front features drop spindles and an adjustable beam and sway bar.
The interior is billet featuring tachometer, oil temperature, oil pressure, amps and clock. Overhead console with map lights and a GPS speedometer. The seats are from a Honda Prelude and are powered. An arm rest and centre console with storage and clock. Door panels are velour with billet hardware and storage pockets.
The wheels are period correct EMPI Riviera’s fully polished with billet caps.
As a extra feature I designed the front cargo area lid to open to the front and relocating the spare wheel allows the original location to attach the canter lever mechanism and another storage area.
The rear deck lid is adjustable at the top to allow extra cooling in hot weather.
The exterior is painted in GMH sting red two pack featuring Briz billet bumper bars and billet mirrors, license plate frames, running boards and license plate light.
