History
Purchased new by my father in March 1969 for $1100 as a comfortable farm and town utility. The colour was the light brown Pinaroo. It was my first car when I left school in 1975 and the first outing was to take my 2 mates to Noosa for a "Schoolies" weekend. Learnt to navigate around the city streets of Brisbane and later the ute was used for many camping trips in the local region. I later purchased a HX V8 ute so the HK became more of a farm runabout. In 1980,I transplanted a HK 307 Holden/Chev motor and drive-train as a project and later fitted a 350 Chev and Top Loader gearbox with 9" Diff. After this phase of life, I returned the ute to standard for travelling from home to the farm each day until 1989 when it was deregisterd and languished in the farm workshop. In 2014 my son and I started on a full restoration. The body work was sandblasted and dents removed then painted in 2 pack Picardy Red. I rebuilt the engine with single barrel stromberg carby and single exhaust. Again all the original equipment was used, except for the period 14x7 Aunger Hustler mag wheels. It is used 2 to 3 times a week as an around town car driving mainly to the local golf course.
