Built as a dedicated Hillclimb car in 1969 by Jack Wortmeyer in Wollongong, NSW.
The Wortmeyer SCV is a one off special that has evolved over time to stay at the top of Australian Hillclimbing.
This car has broken hill records, won state and National titles in a career
from 1969 to 2011, lasting 42 years!
While it keeps the Original space-frame chassis the body and wings are now Carbon Fibre.
The car is very light at 425kg and it puts its 500+HP to the ground through special
AVON hillclimb compound tyres.
It has been driven to Outright State Championship wins by
Errol Richardson (2), Gary Cossor (1) and Peter Gumley (29),
and 10 Australian Outright wins with Peter Gumley.
John Fields and Dwayne Wilson have also competed in the car.
The SCV has held outright tracks records in NSW at Huntley (Dapto), Bathurst Esses, Bathurst Mountain Straight, King Edward Park(Newcastle) Ringwood (Raymond Terrace), Wakefield Park – both tracks (Goulburn), and Mt Oxley and the Kart Track (Tamworth), Eastern Creek, Amaroo, Oran Park, Fairburn Park(Queenbyan) and Grafton. Also Interstate at Morwell VIC, Mt Cotton QLD and Collingrove, SA.
