History
I first fell in love with the A.C. Cobra when I saw a Robnell Cobra held sideways under power for 100ft along Brighton Road over 25 years ago! This was well before 'drifting' was a thing. After 3 kids and many life commitments that stopped me from fulfilling the dream earlier, in 2012 I bit the bullet and committed to owning this iconic machine. I built this A.C. Cobra replica myself over 3 years with the kit originating out of a company called 'Absolute Pace' on the Gold Coast. It was fully engineered and street registered in late 2016.
It features an aircraft-grade, TIG welded all-alloy semi-monocoque chassis and is powered by a supercharged 6.2 litre LSA V8 motor, The car has an MG9 6 speed transmission with LSD and authentic pin drive 'knock on' spinner 15" wheels. I did all the bodywork and painting of the carbon/fibreglass body myself too at my bodyshop in Moorabbin, Vic called Paintwerks. I bought this particular kit due to the extremely accurate body shape and ease of build. Everybody comments positively on the stance of the car.
The motor is stock inside (for now!) but it has a Yella Terra 21% supercharger overdrive kit. It is now making somewhere around 700hp (520whp). It only weighs 1060kg so it makes for pretty interesting driving!
The colour is a custom-modified McLaren Volcano Orange 3 layer pearl metallic with PPG LVC-104 Enviroflow UHS clearcoat.
Modifications
It has a Yella Terra 21% supercharger overdrive kit, custom intake, twin 2.5" mandrel bent stainless exhaust and has been tuned by APS.
