History
This XE Falcon GL was my very first car, coming in at $600 second hand. At the time I purchased it I knew nothing about cars so I asked a friend to help me find a car to buy - when we picked the car up was the first time that I had seen it, and it was also the first time I ever drove an automatic transmission.
The car served me faithfully until I became interested in cars in general and ended up swapping to a (slightly) newer vehicle. The XE was sold for $250 via the Trading Post to a guy that was using it to move to Tamworth - he didn't want a car but figured that the cost of the car was cheaper than hiring someone to transport his belongings to Tamworth. He never transferred the rego and just dumped the vehicle outside of town. I was contacted by Tamworth City Council and I briefly considered going to collect it and sell it again but I had no idea what condition the car was in and let it go.
Modifications
When I picked the vehicle up there was cosmetic damage to the centre console unit. I mistook the car originally for an XF, and purchased a do-it-yourself manual for the later model and eventually went to Pick-and-Payless to get replacement parts. Thankfully the two models were mostly compatible when it came to the parts I got so my XE had an XF centre console which included a closeable storage comparment rather than just an open tray behind the gear shift.
