History
I have owned this car for over 40 years. Originally as a NSW registered everyday vehicle. In the late 1970's I decided to upgrade the suspension and running gear and at that time removed the transverse springs front and rear and fitted a modified 4 cylinder Torana independent front suspension with Fiat bc uprights and disc brakes
bolted into a strengthened chassis. At the rear the chassis was also strengthened and modified and semi-eliptic springs fitted with a Fiat disc brake differential. Motor and transmission were also Fiat twin cam motor and 5 speed from the bc with dual downdraught Weber carburettors. At this time for various reasons the project stalled and the car was put into mothballs and garaged where it remained for the next 35 years.
This year (2015) now retired I decided to resurrect and further modify my old English bodied Ford.(different to Australian manufactured prefects).
Once again after all these years an upgrade is needed so having been in the Restoration/ Hot Rod/ Custom car business all my life it has to be something special, so out comes the Fiat motor/ transmission, differential and rear suspension.
The body is now dropped 75mm over the chassis, the roof is being chopped 75mm and the body is being sectioned 100mm.
Running gear is all coming from a V6 5 speed manual commodore with independent rear suspension modified with coil over shock absorbers.
Of course to make this all fit in a narrow bodied Prefect means the car needs to also be widened 200mm.
This is a long term project and hopefully I will be able to update progressive photos as the custom rod comes into being.
