History
This vehicle was purchased new in 1992 by a customer of mine on retirement. In 1996 the owner transfered the maintenance of the vehicle to me following 130,000km of servicing by the local Toyota dealership. I have continually serviced the car every 5,000km since for the past 25 years.
After fulfilling their retirement dream of numerous camping trips to central Australia and around most states, they purchased a comfortable motorhome, selling the caravan & leaving the Cruiser to became a daily drive for the couple, with the vehicle now spending more time at home.
For several years I had hinted that if they ever wanted to sell the vehicle I would be interested, although their grandson had suggested that he would like to be first in line.
I was recently contacted by the owners and asked if I was still interested, which I was, so after some negotiation a very favourable price was agreed on and the Cruiser became ours. It will have a gentle retirement, having clocked up 719,000 km to date, with virtually no major repairs. Body, paint and interior are original and in excellent condition. Original engine and drivetrain function perfectly well considering the high mileage.
Modifications
Bullbar, tow-bar, side steps and dual battery. I have also installed a part-time 4WD kit with free wheeling hubs to take the load off the ageing front end. This disables the "Full Time" 4WD system by removing the centre transfer case diff, making it more of a conventional 4WD system.
We have no plans for further modifications.
