History
This was ordered by the NSW Premiers Department for Neville Wran , but the order was cancelled , a deposit was then paid by private owners , who also cancelled the deal with a Crows Nest Holden dealer , they wanted some one to pay the rest of the owing amount so they could walk away from the contract . I had just had my first Maroon one of these WB Caprices stolen , the price was right so I bought this one and a little lated the other Venetian red one that I still own . Having been built for the Premiers dept this slver car came with a host of "extras" Cb radio, fog lights , flashing red & blue lights behind the grille, front sun visor , dual front door weather shields , car radio telephone , plus had been sent to HDT to have its engine output boosted , heavy duty front & rear suspension, beefed up transmission , diff , long range fuel tank & the list goes on , I've owned 3 of these , I rate them as Australias all time best road car , their quality of construction and durability is second to none and will not ever be repeasted , their handling & roadability is great even today. People pay big money for Monaros & the like , that have lower specs , to begin with , whereas these were the ultimate Holden of the era and yet sell for less these days , not so in the 80's they held their value for years , after production stopped in 1985, second hand ones traded for new car prices for a few years to come as there was nothing else available at a comparable price .
