History
Car originally a 1975 Australian delivered BMW 2002 with a 2 litre single carburettor, 4-speed manual transmission. Car has had 2 previous owners, and was purchased from the second owner of 10 years in 2011 with a complete BMW documented history and extremely low mileage.
Modifications
Starting in 2006, car has undergone a full restoration, while keeping most of its original character, sporty period correct ALPINA enhancements were added. Over a period of approximately 5 years, a complete vehicle strip down and rebuild was undertaken. Full body repair and bare metal respray to its original colour, with ALPINA front air dam, rear rubber spoiler and wheels added. Hella foglights were added for a "rally" look. Interior received original ALPINA steering wheel and shift knob, RECARO front seats and 1977 BMW 635CSI rear seats modified to fit. Full interior retrim includes the front and rear seats, door trims, front dashboard and roof lining. Engine block has been fully reworked with new pistons, conrods and modified crankshaft. Cylinder head has been ported and polished, and includes new enlarged valves and 292 degree camshaft. Twin Webber carburettors and intake manifold were added to provide further power upgrade. Suspension was completely refurbished with new KONI adjustable dampers and lowered uprated springs. Transmission was upgraded to a rebuilt later model 5-speed close ratio unit with matching rear limited slip differential. ANSA exhaust completes the BMW sport coupe look with an exhaust note to match.
