History
Bought in Tennessee October 2011. The previous owner was unable to complete an upgrade and restoration, due to a sequence of unfortunate events. The car was at Air Cooled Classics in Knoxville Tennessee undergoing an upgrade - new 3.3 turbo engine; reconditioned transmission; new heavy duty clutch; and new driveshafts. The workshop went broke while the owner was interstate on a long term assignment, and he didn't find out for two months. By then the car had been parked outside, and had been broken into. The targa top and all the instruments were stolen, and the interior of the car was exposed to the extreme heat and intermittent rain of a Tennessee summer. The interior was ruined - including power operated seats sourced from a later model 911. The owner gave up, and I acquired the car at an attractive price. I imported it to Sydney, then towed it to its new home in Tasmania for restoration (that trip is a story on its own!). Many years of frustration followed as I attempted to get it restored and registered. I eventually got it registered in 2018, but realising the amount of work that still remained to do the interior and bring the car up to the standard that I required, I decided to sell it. The 930 engine ensured that I had no trouble doing that! It is now being re-imagined at Skunk Werks, Colac Victoria.
Modifications
When I sold it: 3.3 930 turbo engine; strengthened 915 transmission with LSD; 930 drive shafts; "Big Black" front brakes.
