History
I found my dream car listed in the Quokka for $1000 one thursday in January 2010.
The engine was seized and there was rust evident in the front suspension towers and in the sills in front of the rear wheels. The rest of the car looked sound.
Modifications
I restored the car to original although I changed the interior colour from beige velour to black but retained the original colour of Tundra. I initially wasn't sold on the colour when I bought the car but when it was repainted it looked amazing and nice colour is almost always one of the first comments I get. The car is registered with Shannons and the BMW E9 international register as nice colour. The car was delivered fitted with power steering, air conditioning, electric windows and 4 wheel disc brakes as standard which was incredible for a car in 1972. I found some original staggered Alpina wheels which were refurbished and fitted and the car presents very well. It has won the peoples choice award at the BMW Club WA show and shine and the Best European (twice) and best 70's car at the annual charity event 'Big Al's Poker run" for Uni Camp for Kids. It is regularly on display at Targa West and at various special events at the two BMW dealerships here in Western Australia. It is driven at least once a week, even in the rain.
