History
Rescued from the rusty road to oblivion by Graham Froud (Dignams Creek NSW) and restored to glorious originality around 1997.
Graham regularly rallied her until she was sold to the current owner early in 2014.
She has been christened "Mabel" (surely a name befitting such a grand old old lady), and is now seen as often as possible gracing various events in and around Darwin.
Modifications
Although many parts must be re-manufactured in the restoration of such an old machine, the only items known to depart from original specs are the valves, tappets, and the use of stainless nuts and bolts wherever practicable.
Replacement of original valve pattern was a concession to reliability, as original valve spring retaining pins were renowned for breaking or popping out of their slot n the valve stem. Modern colletted valves present no such issues.
In addition, an antique leather Gladstone bag has been added to allow me to carry a fire extinguisher, and of course, lunch.
