History
i bought it for $1000 of a chef where i use to work in a pub in 95,brief history of it he use to use it as a sea food carrier with a trailer as-well.
the chef invited me to his party he was having, cut a long story short after a few we went down stairs with a few drinks because he had do something in his shed, when he opened up the shed i saw the commodore it had four flat tyres and i asked him does it go he said no it hasn’t
went for over three years,i asked if i could buy it of him he said no he was going to fix it and get it back on the road again, any a few weeks pasted i asked him has he fixed it yet and he said no,so i thought hmmm i wonder what he would say if asked him again if i could buy it of him,so i asked he said yeah you can buy it of me for 3,000 i said are you for real he said yes,i turn around and said it’s not work it it hasn’t went in over 3 years,he said he still wanted 3,000 for it,i said no thanks it’s to much, anyway a few days later i went to his place and decided to try 1 more time to buy it off him.so i asked if i could buy it but not for 3,000 he said you can have for 1000 becuase of the tyre and rims that was on it,so i said ok deal,i rang a mate to come give me a tow, tyres all stayed up my mate towed me as he was i tried the gearbox out to see if gears where fine as the chef told me they where buggered, but they where fine, got it home tried to start it.it wouldn’t start petrol was pouring out from carburetor so i pulled it apart cleaned it and adjusted the float and tried to start it but still no go and still there was petrol coming out of the carburetor,so i rang me mate up to come give me a tow to his place because he had plenty of tools, got to his place he tried to start it he said the carburetor needs to be pulled apart and clean and adjust the float i said i did all that he said did you check the needle ans seet i no i forgot about he asked if i had 1 or had the money to buy 1 i no just spent it on the car,i asked him do you have any spare ones he yeah i got 1 that is in a 351 i said do you think that would work in this 750 holly he said i don’t know but we’ll try it so we put in then tried to start it with the 1st turn of the key it fired up then checked to see if petrol was still coming out of the carburetor nothing,so let it run for about 10 minutes, then i took it for a spin around the block it purred like a kitten,so got my mate to tow me back home,a week later i took it to go over the pits for rego, fixed the few mini problems it had got it registered on the rego sticker it said 1978 vb commodore but under the hood it had a 1979 vb plate,i thought hmm must be stolen or something dodgy going on so done a police check on the whole car,it turns out everything was in order,i thought to myself it is strange how under the bonnet was 1979 vb but on the rego it was 1978,it turn out after doing some digging that it was a prototype commodore before they released them in 1979,how lucky of a buy was that.i wish i still had it today.
Modifications
there wasn’t really anything else i did to it apart the chef forgot to give me the four barrel carbie that went with it before it got rego,he gave it to me after it.
