History
A recent addition to our family but arguably the best loved already!
My majorly smooth Panzer (German for tank) had three previous owners, the first two of which took great care of it, ensuring it was always serviced and well maintained.
That was of course until the guy I bought it from got hold of it. When I bought it, the partner of a dear friend of mine had it for around 12 months and unfortunately the poor girl deteriorated more in that year than it had in the previous 25.... we call him "The Car Killer", no matter how hard he tries, this guy manages to murder ANY car he has.
The 300SE W126 has been my favourite car since I was old enough to have a favourite so when the Car Killer was given my dream car by my old friend, I knew what I had to do..... work out a way to make him want to sell it to me, HOPEFULLY before he carried out the worst of his "Crimes against auto-humanity" upon my baby to be.
Fortunately fate intervened and an S-Series Jaguar came along before he had destroyed my Panzer entirely, as a result the W126 was left all alone, undriven and unloved in their driveway for about a month before I felt it was appropriate to make them an offer and as luck would have it, I was able to buy it for my first offer (in hindsight I probably offered too much!).
Since then, I have learned more about the mechanics, history and folklore of the 300SE W126 & Mercedes in general than I ever thought possible and I hope I keep learning more. The process of repairing the neglect inflicted on my baby by the Car Killer has been an absolute pleasure (though sometimes an outrageously expensive one) but I wouldn't change a thing, from where I stand, I'm the luckiest guy on the road... I get to drive my dream car every day.
