History
I purchased from private seller in Feb 1992 & it was later stolen from me in Nov 1992.
It was recovered the following day although it was never the same car ever again & I gradually pieced it back together & traded it in on a non turbo manual VL Commodore SL sedan in 1996 sometime.
Modifications
When I purchased the car it was fitted with genuine XE ESP gold snowflake wheels, a 2 & 1/2" sports single exhaust system which started off with 4-2-1 extractors & a she also had Rochester Quadrajet carby in place of the original Carter (or a traditional Holley).
Once it was recovered, (some engine parts had been stolen) I did a few mods in the form of rebuilt closed chamber 2V (302) cylinder heads, bolt on Yella Terra roller rockers, stage 4 hydraulic Heatseeker cam with Rollmaster double row chain & sprockets, Weiand X-Celerator inlet manifold, 750cfm double pumper Holley carby, regraphed the original dizzy & kept the existing exhaust system. All this caused the Borg Warner 4spd single rail to cry enough so a 4spd Toploader was installed.
Also all of the original Scheel interior was stolen when the car disappeared & I replaced it all with a grey velour XF Fairmont Ghia interior as already it was to difficult to obtain ESP trim or interiors firstly & secondly, I didn't want to see the car get stolen again.
Another 12 - 15mths later, the bottom end got all knockie so a full rebuild with 302 conrods, Wiseco custom pistons (back when you couldn't by long rod 351 pistons off the shelf), 4V valves in the 2V closed chamber heads, guide plates, s**** in studs, Crane adjustable roller rockers, .616"/.642" lift cam, 830cfm annular discharge Holley carby, 4,500rpm Dominator stall in a TCI 6cyl 1st gear trans braked Powerglide with a Hugo's adaptor plate & a hybrid Borg Warner axles/tubes onto 9" centre diff with Ford Motorsport Detroit Locker centre with 4.57:1 gears was all fitted up.
