History
This is my 2002 Mitsubishi Magna VR-X.
- It is a former MMAL Motorshow Car built specifically for their sponsorship of the Australian Commonwealth Games Team to compete in Manchester in 2002.
The car is finished in a factory Green and Gold Chromaflair paint costing $7500 per car in 2002 ($1500/L), that is reminiscent of the colours of the Australian teams travelling overseas. The interior is adorned with one-off black leather seats and door inserts with the "Blue Roo" logo embroidered on the front seats.
The car was initially on display in MMAL's Tonsley Park plant before moving onto being displayed at the 2002 Sydney Motorshow.
Afterwards, it was sold to a private owner in central/north QLD where it remained and was occasionally spotted for about 20 years, slowing becoming unloved over time.
Halfway between 2024, it appeared in a Pickles auction in Gracemere destined for scrap or the wreckers. With me knowing what it is, I made the huge risk of travelling all the from Brisbane to Gracemere (near Rockhampton) without knowing all the problems that it would bring to me.
Eventually, it was brought back to Brisbane where I spent the next 2 months giving it tons of love to meet the deadline of being on full display at All Jap Day 2024 (QLD).
In the end, it deserved a second chance as it is truly one of a kind in this colour combined with its history. Now it sits loved in the shed.
