History
I kept in driving past the Chrysler dealer in Southport and these cute little cars kept smiling at me. My wife wanted to downsize from our Fairlane but did not seem to like what was on offer. I knew the sales manager and he loaned me have a little orange one for a weekend. My wife did not want to return it. I took it back and ordered a metallic red one but as they were in runout, the only one I could get was Cranberry. She loved it, they took her Fairlane and I took it out for new wheels and tyres. We put larger diameter wheels and low profile tyres on it. It was transformed into a go Kart.
I read so many adverse comments about these cars especially the 3 speed automatic. It was a little gem! Every drive was fun. It had more than enough torque to carry 3 speeds and even the addition of a four speed in the USA did nothing to improve acceleration. We gave it to our daughter as her first car. People kept on running into it at her work car park. The water based paint was rubbish and faded once it was left outside. Still, every drive was a pleasure. It was a reliable good riding Yankee car. Oh how I want a Neon SR/T - they were serious Honda Civic R rivals in USA. Daughter wanted an upgrade so she sold it t a Chrysler guy. He still drives it.
I've had a lot of cars but this is the one that I was saddest to see go.
