I bought this when I was 18. Won 2 hillclimbs at Amaroo Pk in 1975 Group C over 2500cc Class. Lost my licence a few times and while suspended pulled engine and I rebuilt it with Turbo charger [ Rahl Cowan supplied Turbo and left bank exhaust manifold, inlet plenum etc ], 750 holley [ suck thru ] L34 Rods, 327 Chev Blower pistons+ 30thou. Special Waggott cam, head work. Balanced, Dave Mawer sump with external oil pickup with oil cooler and other work. Lowered, konis, premier front. Nicknamed "THE JET " ! Was stolen out the front of my home in 1983 and has never been seen since.
THIS WAS THE FIRST ROAD REGISTERED TURBOCHARGED V8 IN AUSTRALIA WHEN I BUILT IT IN 1976 ! No new Turbo cars were available and Turbos were not even in Formula One at this time! A real blast ! I blew up 6 gearboxes and 4 diffs before it was fully sorted by about 1980 with Muncie box, special HARROP axles and diff centre and tail shaft ! Never had any engine issues after I built this engine in the Summer of 76. !! Where is it now ??
