History
An original Los Angeles built Desoto that was bought new by Mike Francovich Snr, a movie producer/screen play writer from the 50s 60s 70s and 80’s. I bought this rare convertible from his son’s private family collection in 2004 in LA . This vehicle has ferried numerous movie stars around LA /Hollywood back in the day including John Wayne, Lucille Ball, Clint Eastwood,Marilyn Monroe,Gene Kelly,Charles Bronson, Jimmy Stewart,Carry Grant, Sammy Davis Jnr and Goldie Hawn to name a few of the many stars that worked with Mr Frankovich.I imported this vehicle to join up with my 58 Desoto Firesweep stretch limousine which is another unique vehicle here in Australia. The convertible is probably the most awarded Chrysler here in Australia having taken out lately,Best Convertible and Best Classic at 2011 All American Day,Best Convertible at Armour All Auto Show-Sydney Olympic Park V8 Supercars 2011 where we had Jamie Whincup riding in the back which we led on the parade lap [ the only Chrysler vehicle in the parade lap] and this year,2012, took out Best Mopar and, Top Car of Show at the All American Day at Castle Hill which is regarded as the "Bench Mark" American Car Show outside of the USA. An extremely rare Mopar in the USA and a unique vehicle here in Australia !
Modifications
Factory original except for fitting a new stereo system [ tv/dvd/cd/blue tooth/navigation ] inside of the original "Hi Way Hi Fi" record player which are impossible to find new parts for these days. Factory new Kelsey Hayes wire wheels.
