History
In 1969 my father rescued this 1928 Chevrolet off a Gippsland farm, he then stored it for a further 41yrs in his workshop. A few months before dad was suddenly diagnosed with "AML Leukemia" in May of 2010 we spoke about getting it out of the shed, dads said "We’ll get it running but we’re not painting it all fancy". Sadly this never happened as dad passed away after a 6 week battle on 14th June 2010, I owe dad this restoration so here is my story of "Monty" our 1928 Chevrolet.
Modifications
Since June 2011 we completely removed the body and repainted the chassis, with only 10,300 miles on the speedo (original), the motor, gearbox, and running gear where left alone but giving a good checking over, with spark plugs, oils, filters, wheel bearings, brakes, bushes, shackles and seals etc, all being replaced.
I then made and replaced all of the internal timber work and main timber rails due to wood rot from it sitting for many years under a tree on a farm before my dad found it and stored it away, then the original panels were re-installed, new wiring and laminated windscreen installed along with new tyres. The motor runs very sweetly and after 40years of sitting it cruises along lovely at 45mph..
I now have the rest of my life to play around and keep this old banger out on the roads.
Google "Monty the Chev" for my blog link which has had over 30,000 views since we started, lots of photos and information about the resto... Cheers.
