History
This HZ Sandman van was purchased in early 1988 as a roller without a motor or gearbox however the van had a brilliant body and still had the full black Sandman interior. The van as a roller cost $1200 to purchase (without the sports mirrors). The car was originally Valencia Orange with black interior and was a originally a 253 (L32) 4 speed (M20) car. I had the van resprayed in Gun Metal Grey in 1989. I remember advertising this van for sale (nationally) in the mid 1990s for $6,000 and could not sell the van as at that time nobody seemed to want a panel van during that period. The van was eventually traded on a ute as I required a ute at that time. I recall paying 18% interest rate on a home loan at one stage when I owned this van so I suppose there wasn't a lot of money out there to spend on motor vehicles.
