History
This HK GTS 327 Monaro was purchased back in 1982. This was a genuine 81837 Monaro however when I purchased the Monaro the original 327 motor and 4 speed Saginaw gearbox had been removed and replaced with a 350 and Super T 10 gearbox (this was a Brisbane built type 1 HK GTS 327 Monaro). The Monaro had only traveled just over 58,000 miles and had a perfect standard black interior. I was just 18 years old at the time and the Monaro cost $3,200 to purchase. After selling the Monaro back in the mid 1980s to purchase a block on ground (as a lot of us did back then) it took 15 years to track down another genuine HK GTS 327 Monaro as this time I was looking for a numbers correct car with the original owners hand books. I was fortunate enough to purchase another HK GTS 327 Monaro in 2001. This Bright Blue Metallic HK GTS 327 Monaro was built at Acacia Ridge plant at Brisbane and the Monaro was built 23 cars prior to my red HK GTS 327 Monaro back in July 1968. The bloke I sold this Bright Blue Metallic HK GTS 327 Monaro to back in the mid-1980s still owns this car, the last photo is of the Monaro taken in April 2016 during a restoration of the HK.
Modifications
350 Chev, Competition cams hydraulic camshaft, double hump fuelie heads, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Holley 750 double pumper carb, Mallory duel point distributor, Genie extractors with dumped exhaust pipes. The gearbox was a Super T 10 (2nd design) with a Hurst shifter and McCloud clutch & pressure plate. The rear end had fabricated traction bars as well as the original radius rods and the 10 bolt LSD Salisbury diff. I remember as an 18 year old, this Monaro was a great car to drive !
