History
This HK GTS 327 Monaro was purchased new from City Autos Toowoomba, Qld on the 30/11/1968 by Alan Harris. Alan told me that when he first looked at the Monaro on the show room floor, the Monaro was not for sale and was a display car only for the City Autos Dealership at Toowoomba, Qld (Dealership number 792). He said that after some serious discussions over an extended period of time he managed to talk the Manager of City Autos into selling the Monaro to him (after Bathurst 1968). The Monaro is a type1 HK GTS 327 Monaro built at Acacia Ridge, Brisbane, the car still has the original owners hand books. The Monaro retains the original 327 engine with all correct part numbers. I purchased the HK back in 2001 and the car has travelled 106,0100 miles. The Monaro also retains the original number plates the car was first registered with back in 1968. I have managed to track down each of the previous owners of the car and have spoken to two of the gentleman that carried out the servers on the Monaro at Powers Garage back in the mid-1970s. The first photo was provided to me by the original owner, Alan said the photo was taken in late 1968 after he placed the Tasman wheels on the Monaro. Alan said that he placed the Tasman wheels on the car as his father had purchased a HK 307 Premier three months prior and optioned the Premier with GTS wheel trims and that the Premier had lost three wheel trims in that time (the HK 307 Premier is still in his family). The 2nd, 3rd & 4th photos were provided by the second owners of the Monaro Glenn & Trish Porter, these photos were taken in 1970. Glenn & Trish Porter sold the HK in 1974 to purchase a new HQ GTS 308 Monaro sedan. The 4th photo was provided by a previous owner John Constable when he owned both the HK GTS 327 Monaro and a HT GTS 186s 4 speed Monaro at the same time in the early 1980s. John had the HK sprayed black during the mid 1980s.
