History
This unrestored Microbus was Purchased by its original owner on the 15th of March 1976 from Leo motors in Ferntree Gully this microbus has spent its life in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Purchased by its original owner to transport his large family the bus faithfully filled this role for many years.
There were some hiccups along the way including a large accident. The insurance company at the time wanted to write the bus off however the owner fought and got the bus repaired back to its former glory.
When the time came for the bus to move on the original made sure it wouldn’t go far. He sold the bus to his daughter so she could transport her family.
Whilst the bus again filled this role well it was starting to wear out and the daughter did not have the resources to give the bus what it needed. So it was decided to move the bus on.
Thankfully she decided to contact the VWCV as at the time I had been looking for a Microbus. A committee member passed the daughters details onto me knowing that this bus was exactly what I was looking for.
Contact was made, viewing arranged and an offer made on first sight. After reassuring the daughter that the bus would be preserved, driven and loved the bus was mine.
The bus spent a few years on the full time roster before it was decided to place the bus into semi-retirement on club plates.
All this changed when my third child was born. I needed a car that could hold the 3 kids all their stuff. Rather than buying a modern car I rebuilt the matching numbers motor, got a RWC and rego with the original rego plates from 1976. The bus is now on the full time roster again doing the exact job it was purchased for, all be it for a new family.
