I've lusted for a FD for the longest time. Never bought one since they were a bit daunting due to needing regular rebuilds.
Now that I can afford to keep multiple cars added this one to the collection. Forget the GTRs, end of the day this was and still is my dream car.
I found the car in QLD back in January '17. Took ages to negotiate a deal with the original owner as he didn't really want to sell. Eventually after pestering him once a week for 2 months, I became the new owner.
It was priced accordingly based on its condition and thankfully the engine was recently rebuilt, 13B bridgey, single turbo converted with a T04R, power FC being the items that were definitely what I was after in a FD. After speaking with the seller I took his word the engine was solid and got a mate up in QLD to test drive it for me. He felt the seller was honest and other than above faults, it could be brought back.
- 1992 Aussie delivered FD
- One of the first batch in the country, VIN #00006 complied locally March 1992
- This car was original Silverstone Metallic but was repainted by someone along the line to Competition Yellow Mica or something pretty close to it which only Japan and USA got.
- Paint isn't perfect and it needed a whole lot of loving to bring her back to something more respectable.
- Body was more or less stock
- Had rusted seized rear brake calipers
- old shagged suspension
- interior bits loose or broken
- torn rear seats
- nasty front seats
- filthy interior
- battery tied down with wire
- Some huge 20" wheels which are definitely not to my taste
- Came with a stock silver bonnet as the owner had a black carbon bonnet which I didn't want and opted for the stock silver one
- Had no fender liners which scared me to death. I've never seen cars come from factory with cut front wheel wells to save weight, after doing more research I realised these were like that stock but now I had to try and track down some liners.
