History
The 85th Anniversary model TF was developed over the winter of 2008/09 led by SAIC's Ian Pogson. It was announced in the spring of 2009 and two cars made their first public appearances at the Windsor (UK) MG Heritage Festival on Sunday 25th April in the presence of HRH Prince Philip. Built to celebrate the 85th Anniversary of MG they follow the previous 75th and 80th Anniversary models. The car comes in 135 format but with a much improved suspension system utilising gas filled mono-tube Bilstein dampers, and Eibach up rated Sports anti-roll bar set c/w anti-roll bar link from TRW. This set-up makes the cars sit lower than the normal models. The brakes feature ventilated front discs and 4 pot callipers. The interior on all cars are in aubergine leather with a special logo 85th gear knob and door strips. There were three unique colours, Ice White, Enigmatic Silver and Intense Cassis, each with a contrasting double stripe running from front to back to the right of the car. There are special 85th logos on the door panels and the rear. Unique Boron finish "Twist of Pepper" wheels finish the car beautifully; the rims are 6.5 inch at the front and 7.5 inch at the rear. This helps handling in a mid-engine application. All cars are fitted with air conditioning, rear parking sensors, electric boot release, hood snatch straps and tail light protectors in the boot. Just 50 of this special model were made including the two press cars. The cars were completed over the summer of 2009 with the first ones reaching customers in early September.
This actual car was the MG show car at the NEC Classic Car Motor Show held in 2010 at Birmingham, UK.
