History
Meet "Lizzie".
This beautiful piece of motoring history was originally assembled at the 'Lane's Motors' factory of Port Melbourne, in the second half of 1927. From what we can gather so far, the 'Doctor's Coupe' bodies were incredibly rare - only a small number being imported direct from Detroit, rather than constructed here by one of the two local companies supplying the other Essex body types.
From there, her history is unknown, until poor Lizzie ended up sitting as a rusted out shell, on a rural property up around Yea, Victoria.
The gentleman who found and purchased her was the late William "Bill" Trevillian, who then faithfully set about restoring her to former elegant glory. After many family adventures driving Lizzie for a number of years, Bill retired her to his garage for some well-earned TLC.
Now, she has been entrusted into our care, to finish what Bill had started. Myself a mechanic for over a decade, along with my dear wife, have been working tirelessly to rebuild Lizzie's motor and running gear from the ground up.
Fuelled by a deep passion, our goal is to preserve this grand Essex as the rare part of Australian Automotive history that she is, and to give others the opportunity to experience the joy old Lizzie still has to offer!
PS. If you have any information about 1920s Essex Vehicles - or even better, if you know more about this specific vehicle and her history - we'd love to hear from you!
