History
Starting with a standard road car, I progressively built it up to a competition standard rally car which I used in a variety of rallies during the late 1970s and early 1980s, from club level to State and even one national rally: the 1980 Alpine Rally. Rallied with Tayell Automotive Rally Team throughout my ownership of the car.
Modifications
1.2 litre engine, balanced, ported and polished, built by Motor Improvements; 5 speed celica gearbox; rally suspension by Pedders; Bridgestone 303 M&S tyres (among others); sump guard; roll cage; halda twinmaster trip meter; Cibie headlights and Oscar+ driving lights; Paddy Hopkirk rally seats; carried two spare tyres, which I never needed to use; and a turfor winch, which, fortunately, was also never used.
