History
When I was nearly 16, in 1973 a family friend sold me a 1948 Ford Prefect for $20. For the first few months that I owned it, I only drove it back and forwards around the front and side lawn area of our house in Torrensville, an inner suburb of Adelaide. Once I got my license, and started driving it on the road, I found that due to a cracked distributor cap it would often get me from A to B but not necessarily back again. It used to jump out of second gear, so had a metal hook bolted to the dash that held the gear stick in place. The hands on the clock didn't move but the face had come unscrewed and used to vibrate around, which caused great mirth amongst family & friends. As teenager, this car brought much enjoyment for several years, before I bought a Nissan Cedric to replace it. As you can see, in my early years, my taste in cars was not quite orthodox.
