This is a Merlyn Mk 17 Formula Ford I raced at various tracks during a two-year working holiday in the UK in the mid-1980s. It was an old car by then, but I was racing against cars of similar age in a budget-priced class for 10 year old (Pre-1974) chassis, so it didn’t cost much and I had a ball. This photo was taken at the famous Paddock Hill Bend at Brands Hatch. I came third that day, but being at Brands it felt like I’d just won the F1 World Championship! Such great memories.
