History
This is a Merlyn Mk 17 Formula Ford I raced at various tracks during a two-year working holiday in the UK in the mid-1980s. It was an old car by then, but I was racing against cars of similar age in a budget-priced class for 10 year old (Pre-1974) chassis, so it didn’t cost much and I had a ball. This photo was taken at the famous Paddock Hill Bend at Brands Hatch. I came third that day, but being at Brands it felt like I’d just won the F1 World Championship! Such great memories.
Modifications
None. Between blowing an engine sky high at Donington Park and repairing damage from a couple of ’offs’ during the year at Mallory Park, I was busy enough just keeping the old girl going!
