History
Best 4x4 I owned was this CJ5 Jeep back in the 1980s. It was one of the Australian-assembled units put together by Willys Motors in Queensland, using lots of local Ford and Falcon parts including engine, clutch and pedal assemblies. I believe the diffs and three-speed gearbox were local Borg Warner units. Unfortunately there's not a lot of documentation about these 'Aussie' Jeeps so this info is correct as far as I know. In any case, a fantastic truck that was virtually unstoppable in the rough. And a rare and unique Australian classic that I wish I still owned today (don't we all have a vehicle like that?)
Modifications
None. The bloke I bought it from had owned it for many years (possibly from new) and had kitted it out with a huge range of accessories including bull bar (with swing-down recovery A frame), spot lights, high-back seats, roof rack, gerry can holders, white spoke wheels and larger tyres etc. I just drove it and enjoyed it.
