History
My first car. Purchased around 1973 for $100 cash a few months before I obtained my P's. It was my sisters boyfriends car, he upgraded to a EH sedan and as I always wanted to go for drives in the old Prefect he decided that I was a worthy purchaser. He had restored it to be roadworthy and presentable although the lime green hand painted body raised a few eye brows. I started my apprenticeship at a Ford dealer that same year and all the old time mechanic s said that I would brake an axle but never did, they said it would jump out of gear but it never did and they said I would probably break my thumb crank starting it but never did and the big one, that I would roll it but thankfully didn't do that either. I had a lot of fun in that old girl, never broke down in the year I had it until I traded it in on a HR sedan. The poor old girl, when the oil level was low the tappets would rattle on left corners. One funny story involved my first girl friend that had an Old English Sheepdog that used to sit on the back seat with a car matching lime green blanket. We were driving on the then new M4 and noticed the signage that stated among other things no animals, we panicked and covered the dog with it's blanket so the Police couldn't see the dog! Yes young and silly!
