History
I purchased this original and correct steam car from a deceased estate in Monterey, California in August 2011. It has a tiller rather than a steering wheel and the boiler is fired using petrol at 40psi. The boiler produces 250psi steam pressure and uses 1 gallon of water per mile. (30 kms range from the 20 gallon water tank.)
Although purchased as a running car, I have not driven it yet. Instead I removed, inspected and tested every component to ensure trouble free operation. Many parts, including regulators, valve stems and safety valves have been re-built. Unfortunately, other projects have jumped the queue and the Locomobile still waits attention.
The coachwork and trim were restored in the mid sixties and the boiler and some of the controls were replaced in the early nineties.
There are 22 valves that are used in the operation of the vehicle.
Modifications
None. The vehicle remains "correct" as a 1900 Style 2 Locomobile
