I originally tried to buy this car as a teenager back in 1984. Then, thirty or so years later I had the opportunity to do so, and it was an itch I had to scratch.
Known at one time as the Hinnomunjee hot rod, it languished behind an engineering firm in Moe at the time I found it. Sold at a clearing sale some time in the 90s, it went to someone in Thorpdale who later sold it to his friend in Yallourn North. From there, via a car club contact to whom I had related my story, I got first dibs.
I removed its engine and tore it down, finding it in reasonably good condition, a flogged out valve guide being the only real issue.
It was a shame to let it go earlier this year (2022) but it needed to go to someone with the means to get it back on the road.
