History
The Merc was preceded by three modified V8 Calais which completed 500, 000km over 12 years. I needed a replacement with similar acceleration to the V8 but economical for long trips back to Melbourne after moving to The Gippsland Lakes. The Merc averages 5.3l/100km on the trip and the best has been 4.6l/100km on a trip to Sydney. The car has now completed 26,000km at an average of 5.9l/100km. Couldn’t be happier!
