Travelled to Canberra from Newcastle to purchase because it was a bargain and had very little KMS on it. Instantly fell in love with it.
Originally a company car looked after by Canberra VW. Very clean and tidy car with service history.
Days into owning the water-pump let go =/ Have since replaced all of the cooling system.
Myself and the car have been let down by local VW dealerships/service centres who do not care for such a fine piece of German engineering. But since have found solace in local VAG specialist Ben Durie Automotive and Sydney based Camden GTI.
Modifications
Ok: The Golf already had a 2.5 inch exhaust system and extractors on it. Replaced centre section due to corrosion. Might I say the noise (oh what a noise) is fabulous!!
It has an MSD (General Motors improvement) coilpack/ignition system which stops common stock coilpack cracking/misfire problems as well as generating greater spark and more powwwweeerrrrr!! Also included are 10mm racing leads and iridium spark plugs.
....due to a slightly lumpy idle I believe it may also have improved performance camshafts.
