History
Every Australian boy needs a ...truck! Just gradually fell in love with old trucks, going to shows etc, and decided I needed one of my own. This one suited my parameters of being a real truck (5 ton, dual rears etc) but not too big (so I could actually fit it in the shed). It is about the same age and condition (and general style, actually even the same parent manufacturer) as my old Holden EK ute, which is what I had to let go of in the end to make way for Beddie (see past cars).
The old girl is in very good original condition, and though I will do some restoration work on the tray (a custom timber thing which is quite short, so suits me fine) I’m planning to keep her pretty much as she is except for some detailing. Mechanically, she is a very good example of what a 1965 truck used to be - sound but not fancy. All original except for the dual fuel.
I am very happy with Beddie and looking forward to a long association - I have even used her for some real work transporting a couple of larger items around the place that would have called for a trailer before. And I feel like the king of the road up in the cabin progressing slowly along - pretty much the opposite of my cars really....
