History
Built in 1979 by Leyland Australia (M.Breen) as a TR7 Turbo 2L prototype for the poor selling TR7 coupe. Driven by Bill Nolan in 79 Southern Cross Rally and DNF. Rebuilt to Grp 4 spec rally car from homologation parts supplied by BL (UK), except V8 engine which came from local SD1 in Sydney and blueprinted by Ron Gillard.
Modifications
Group 4 production rally car to FIA BLMC Homologation N0. 654, TR8 3,492cc all alloy V8 with CR LT77 gearbox and Salisbury 4HA LSD. Original induction Holley 4BBl (now 48MM Weber). AP Racing all alloy 4 pot callipers/2 pot rear. Heavy duty rear axles and heavy gauge tubes. Reinforced suspension elements front(spherical),Bond ROP, and reinforced rear suspension elements.
