History
1939 was the 25th anniversary of the Dodge Motor Co and they produced a one year body style to celebrate. This car was the first one with headlights in the Fenders, first with a gear shift on the column and the last with running boards. It came in 2 and 4 door sedan, business coupe and long wheel base limo version. Two variants were offered the Special & Deluxe.
This car spent its life on the West Coast of the USA. The previous owner purchased it in 2012. As the body was quite good from an earlier resto he retrimmed the interior in Mohair wool which was the option at the time. the car retains all of the stock body and trims, correct wheels and caps were sourced and shod with Coker Radial wide white walls. It runs the standard diff, brakes( drums all 4 wheels)& front end which is coil spring independent.
Modifications
In 2015 the side valve six and 3 speed manual were removed and replace witha fully rebuilt baby HEMI. They chose the 200hp 4barrel DeSoto Fireflite engine as it was the smaller of the HEMI engines. This was mated to a GM 4 speed Auto via a HOT HEADS adaptor plate. The auto shift was hooked up to the original column shift to retain and original looking interior. The car has been lowered 3" front & rear.
