History
This very rare vehicle was an original California delivered vehicle which was first registered in the USA in April 1952. A small number of these coupes and the roadster version were sold in the USA in the early 1950's. Many were sold to buyers in Los Angeles California as they were quite popular with the movie stars and movie personnel who were based around Hollywood.
This car was imported by myself in 2007. My car is quite rare as it is the version commonly referred to as the 3 bar coupe after its distinctive 3 chrome bar horizontal grille.
It retains a separate chassis, an aluminium body with steel bonnet, boot lid, hardtop and doors. My car is fitted with a 62bhp Flash special engine with twin solex carburetters. It has a nice column gearshift, leather seats and trim and Jaeger instruments including a tacho. It also has spin off stainless steel full wheel trims and recessed alloy door handles.
This Simca has many detail design features in common with a number of throughbred cars of the day such as the early Ferrari's, Cissitalia, Siata and Fiat 1100 sport coupes of the era. It was design by the Italian design team of Farina and built by Facel in France.
Modifications
No real modifications. The car has required only minor mechanical work at this stage as I am committed to maintaining the originality of the car and preserve it rather than restore it.
